Check the device before anything else, because active styluses pair with specific screen technology and a pen bought for another ecosystem may register nothing on the glass at all. Passive styluses work almost anywhere and give no pressure sensitivity, which matters for drawing and not for navigation. Tip replacement is a consumable.
