HDMI Cables

Two limits. The cable version sets the resolution and refresh it can carry, so an older lead between new devices quietly downgrades the picture. And signal degrades over distance, which is why a long passive run drops out intermittently where an active or fibre cable would hold. Both ends have to support the standard too.
