A ring filled to capacity will not rotate, which defeats the point of a fanning set of cards or swatches. Allow clearance above the stack. Hinged rings open one-handed and suit sets that change; welded rings hold shut more securely for anything permanent. Punch the holes before choosing the ring, since spacing sets how the set hangs.
