These give the control of a pencil and the finish of a wash, which is why they suit botanical work, travel sketching and classrooms with no room for paint pots. The catch is the paper: light cartridge stock cockles the moment water touches it, so use a heavier sheet made for wet media. Work light to dark, since the colour intensifies once wet.
