Backing decides where it works. Sew-on tape belongs on fabric and outlasts everything. Adhesive-backed strip is faster but needs a smooth, clean, non-textured surface, and it fails on a painted brick wall or a dusty panel every time. Load is shear rather than pull, so a strip that holds a poster flat will peel if the weight hangs off it. See mounting strips, craft adhesives and office tapes.
