Character height is what to buy on, since a stencil that looks right in the hand produces lettering far smaller than a sign needs at distance. Work back from where the finished work will be read. Technical and geometric sets are worth checking symbol by symbol, because a set missing one shape you use weekly gets abandoned. See markers, geometry kits and classroom supplies.
