DURABLE has been successfully certified with the internationally accredited ISO 14001 standard for the development of effective, environmental management systems at all German sites.

Based on the existing quality management system, processes have been systematically enhanced to produce an environmental management system. The independent auditors of the evaluation committee of the TÜV Rheinland Group certified the conformance to all requirements for the production sites in Kamen-Methler and Gotha in addition to the distribution centre and head office in Iserlohn.

A team of 12 has worked on this project for 6 months, effectively implementing and demonstrating work to the required standard. When implementing the environmental management system, six key environmental processes have been established, and associated environmental goals defined. DURABLE has concentrated on the core elements of resource and energy management, which incorporates processes for waste, emissions, hazardous substances and emergency precautions.

In particular the TÜV Rheinland Group auditors were impressed by the modern and efficient technologies for reducing energy con-sumption and the internal recycling of process waste.
