• Thermal inkjet is the technology that determines how the ink gets converted into a printed piece of work on the page. It does this by firstly drawing the ink from the ink cartridge down into a set of microscopic nozzles inside a part known as a printhead. This print head acts as the ink applicator to the page. These nozzles also have a micro-heating element built-in, and when switched on, the ink in the nozzle expands, and this produces a droplet which is forced out of the end of the nozzle and out onto the paper. As the ink is applied directly to the page from thousands of microscopic nozzles, the resolution is markedly superior to laser and dot matrix type printing technologies, making inkjet the preferred option when quality is demanded or preferred.
• Ink additives as part of the particular ink blend used in these cartridges maintain ink viscosity to ensure even and high page saturation from the first page to the last across the life of the cartridge. Other polymers in the mix act as a coolant to prevent printhead overstress failure.
