Charcoal In Three Degrees With A Stump, Ten Cards At A Time

Each Staedtler 100C SBK4 card holds three Mars Lumograph charcoal pencils, one each in S (soft), M (medium) and H (hard), plus a paper stump for blending, and this listing supplies ten of those cards.

Staedtler describe a lead with a high charcoal content that lays down deep, velvety blacks with a textured matte finish. The three degrees give you a working range on one card: H for construction lines and light hatching, M for mid tones, S for the darkest shadows in a portrait or a stormy sky. The stump then softens and joins the tones into smooth gradients.

Because the charcoal sits in a wooden case, it stays cleaner in the hand than stick charcoal and sharpens to a point for detail. The lead is roughly 4.5 mm across, so use a sharpener with a large hole or sandpaper, as Staedtler suggest.

Ten cards suits an art room, a life drawing class or a workshop where every student needs the same starter kit.

FAQs

Ten blister cards. Each card carries three charcoal pencils, one soft, one medium and one hard, and a paper stump, so 30 pencils and 10 stumps in total.
Staedtler Australia supply this card in multiples of 10, and our barcode is their inner pack code for that bundle. Single cards are not offered in this listing.
The lead is about 4.5 mm, so a standard small hole will crumble it. Staedtler point to sandpaper 923 or their Mars double-hole model 510 25 for this lead.
It smudges and blends charcoal into soft transitions without putting finger oil on the paper. Staedtler also offer a separate blending stump 5426, not included beyond the one per card.
Staedtler pair this pencil with their kneadable art eraser 5427, which lifts charcoal by dabbing rather than rubbing. We sell it on a blister card.
Those boxes hold twelve pencils of one degree each and no stump. The SBK4 card is the mixed starter format with a stump included.
