Silver lettering for a cleaner, quieter board

The Uni PWE-5M in silver is a single water-based liquid chalk marker with a medium bullet tip, used on chalkboards, glass, mirrors and metal.

Not every venue wants a rainbow. A wine bar, a barber or a boutique with a black and grey fit-out often wants lettering that sits with the room, and silver does that job. Written over a black board or dark glass it reads as clean and understated, and it pairs well with white for a two-tone menu. Silver is also handy for labelling dark storage jars and metal canisters in a kitchen or studio.

Silver sits on Uni's UK colour list for the model, and the UK page calls it a water-based paint pen. It is intended for smooth, sealed surfaces, with porous materials ruled out by Uni. From the Australian side, Uni say a shower will not move it but a damp cloth will.

Yes, a black board gives silver the contrast it needs. Against clear glass with daylight behind it, silver loses much of its punch, so trial it where the sign will be read.
Medium bullet. Uni give more than one line width figure for the PWE-5M across their own websites, so rather than pick one we describe it by its place in the range: wider than the PWE-3MS fine tip, narrower than the PWE-8K chisel.
Uni Australia include metal in the non-porous surfaces the range is for. A painted or powder coated finish is a different matter from bare metal, so try a hidden spot first.
Uni Australia do not list the colours in the PWE-5M metallic packs of 4 and 8. This single marker is the way to be certain of silver.
