Magenta 20, A Saturated Purple Pink For Bold Work

Ten Staedtler 371-20 brush pens in colour 20, magenta: the loudest pink in the pigment brush pen range, suited to bold lettering, tropical flowers and pop art.

Magenta sits between pink and purple, so it paints fuchsia, bougainvillea, dragon fruit, orchids and the hot streak in a sunset. Comic and poster artists use it as a pop colour against black linework, and letterers reach for it when a single word has to jump off a birthday card or a market sign. Run it into orange 4 while both are wet for a tropical sunset gradient, or into violet 6 for a dusk sky.

Among the boxed sets, Staedtler put magenta only in the Reds and Pinks six (371 C6-1), next to red 2, light rosé 21 and rosé pink 208. If your artwork leans on it, a pack of ten single pens keeps you from opening a new set for one colour.

Inside is Staedtler's Multi Ink: pigment based India ink, water-based and translucent, which they describe as permanent and waterproof once dry and classify for lightfastness colour by colour. A saturated pink like this benefits from that claim, since dye pinks are often the first to fade.

Magenta 20 is the most saturated. Red violet 61 leans further to purple, and rosé pink 208 is lighter and softer.
Staedtler include colour 20 in the 371 C6-1 Reds and Pinks box, with red, bordeaux, red violet, light rosé and rosé pink.

Staedtler claim no colour change and no fading even after years of exposure to light for Multi Ink. Direct sun is hard on any artwork, so display with care.
