A single pulley changes the direction of a force without changing its size, and that is the first thing a class needs to see before anything else about mechanical advantage makes sense. Pull down, the load goes up, and the effort is the same as the load.

Hooks at both ends is the detail that makes it work in a classroom. One hooks to a stand or a beam, the other takes the load - or another pulley, which is how you build a two-pulley system and halve the effort.

Metal frame, plastic wheel. The frame is the part that gets dropped and bent, so metal there is right. The plastic wheel runs quietly and does not corrode.

Sold singly, which is how pulley work should be bought: start with one to show direction change, add a second for mechanical advantage, add more for a block and tackle. At $5.40 a class can build systems rather than watch one.

Use it with the slotted weights and a hanger, a stand and clamp, and a spring balance to read the effort. All sold separately.

The supplier does not publish a working load. It is a classroom pulley for slotted weights and light loads, not a lifting device - do not use it to move anything heavy or overhead.
A stand and clamp to hang it from, slotted weights with a hanger for the load, string, and a spring balance if you want to measure the effort. None are included.
The supplier does not specify the groove profile. Standard string and light cord run in it. If you need a specific cord diameter, ask us and we will check.
The supplier says yes. It is a simple metal frame with no pinch points beyond the wheel itself - supervise as you would any moving apparatus.

Returns, Refunds & Replacements

Mega Office Supplies accepts change-of-mind returns for unopened and unused products within 14 days from the invoice date, provided the item is returned in its original packaging and in resalable condition. Original shipping costs are not refundable, return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, and a restocking fee may apply depending on the product type and supplier. Some items, including electronics, assembled or installed furniture, food, beverages, medicines, custom-made products, and certain bulk or special-order items, are not eligible for return unless required under Australian Consumer Law.
