Draws a 70cm circle on the board, and stays put while you do it

Three suction cups, a turning handle, and a holder that takes chalk or markers from 6 to 18mm. Maximum radius about 70cm. $70.00.

The problem with a board compass is not drawing the circle - it is the pivot moving halfway round. Three suction cups fix the pivot to the board so the arc closes where it started, which is the entire difference between a demonstration and an apology.

The turning handle means one smooth motion rather than a series of short pulls, and a smooth motion is what makes a circle look like a circle from the back of the room.

It takes whatever you write with. A round pushing device grips anything from 6 to 18mm in diameter - chalk on a blackboard, a marker on a whiteboard, round or square edged. No proprietary refills.

About 70cm maximum radius, so a 1.4 metre circle - a full board on most classroom whiteboards. A scale shows the angle of the feet, so you can set the same radius twice.

Check your board first. Suction cups need a smooth, non-porous surface. They hold on glass, melamine and painted steel whiteboards. They will not hold on a chalkboard with any texture, or on a board with a worn matte surface.

FAQs

On a smooth, non-porous surface - glass, melamine or painted steel - yes. On a textured chalkboard or a worn matte whiteboard, no. Press a cup on by hand and see before you commit to it.
Anything between 6 and 18mm across, round or square edged. Standard whiteboard markers and blackboard chalk both fit; there is nothing proprietary to buy.
About 70cm radius, so roughly a 1.4 metre circle - the full height of most classroom whiteboards.
Yes - there is a scale showing the angle of the feet, so a radius can be set, noted and set again.
No. It holds your own, which is the point.
