Two lenses, two handles - so two children look at once

Plastic bug viewer with a 4x lens on the top and a second 4x lens on the side. Two handles. Includes a plastic spider. $21.00.

The second lens is the whole idea. A standard bug viewer has one window on top, so one child looks and the other waits. This one has a lens on the top and a lens on the side, which means two children observe simultaneously - and, more usefully, they observe from two different angles at once and have something to disagree about.

Two handles for the same reason. It is designed to be held between two people rather than passed back and forth.

4x on both lenses. That is the right magnification for insects - enough to see legs, wings and segments, not so much that the field of view disappears and the creature is a blur every time it moves.

A plastic spider is included, which sounds like a gimmick and is not: it means the viewer works on day one before anyone has caught anything, and it gives a class something to practise focusing on.

Catch it, look at it, let it go. The point of a bug viewer is that the creature leaves alive, which a jar with a lid does not guarantee.

So two children can look at the same creature at the same time, from different angles. It turns observation from a queue into a conversation.

For insects, yes - it shows legs, wing cases and body segments clearly. Higher magnification sounds better and is actually worse, because the field of view shrinks and a moving insect leaves it constantly.

That is the point of a viewer rather than a jar - short observation and release. Do not leave a creature in it in the sun, and put it back where it came from.

The canister is a small 75mm pot with a 2x lens and breathing ducts, for one child and one creature. This is a larger two-handed frame with two 4x lenses for shared observation.

No - it is a plastic one, included so the viewer works before anybody has caught anything.

Returns, Refunds & Replacements

Mega Office Supplies accepts change-of-mind returns for unopened and unused products within 14 days from the invoice date, provided the item is returned in its original packaging and in resalable condition. Original shipping costs are not refundable, return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, and a restocking fee may apply depending on the product type and supplier. Some items, including electronics, assembled or installed furniture, food, beverages, medicines, custom-made products, and certain bulk or special-order items, are not eligible for return unless required under Australian Consumer Law.

If your order arrives faulty, damaged, or incorrect, please contact Mega Office Supplies as soon as possible. Where required under Australian Consumer Law, a repair, replacement, or refund will be offered.
