Red 2, The Primary Red Of The 371 Range

This listing is ten Staedtler 371-2 pigment brush pens in colour 2, red, the straight primary red of the range.

A true mid red is the colour most sets are built around, which is why Staedtler put red 2 in their Basic Colours boxes of six and twelve. It is the one to use when something simply has to read as red: a stop sign, a strawberry, a poppy, a heart on a card, the key word in a lettered quote.

Because Multi Ink is translucent, red over a dried yellow gives an orange, and red over a dried blue heads towards purple, which lets a small kit go further. Painting over the same stroke twice deepens it. Staedtler say the ink is permanent and waterproof when dry, so a red outline stays crisp if watercolour is washed in around it.

For a darker, wine coloured red there is bordeaux 23, and for a pink leaning bright, magenta 20.
