A Ten Piece Kit For One Line Plant Drawings With Soft Colour

Staedtler 61 371-2 is the Line Art x Botanical set from the Design Journey series: six pigment brush pens, one pigment pen, a drawing pencil, an eraser and a metal sharpener in one cardboard box.

The idea shown on the box is simple: sketch a pot plant or leaf in pencil, trace it with a single confident black line, then drop in loose patches of colour behind it. The palette Staedtler chose for that look is muted and warm, with cream, ochre, pale turquoise, magenta, brown and black brush pens, which suits botanical prints, journal pages and minimalist wall art.

The brush pens carry Staedtler Multi Ink, which they describe as a water-based, translucent India ink made with pigments, permanent and waterproof once dry, and extremely lightfast. According to Staedtler the ink stays on the front of the sheet without bleeding through, and a fully dried layer can take more colour on top without smudging. The stable brush nib gives variable line widths, and Staedtler state the pens are made in Germany. Paper is not included.

More from the series: brush pens, art markers, fineliner pens for extra line weights and the full Staedtler range.

FAQs

Staedtler do not publish colour names for this set. The product photos show cream, ochre, pale turquoise, magenta, brown and black brush pens, plus a black pigment pen.
No. The box holds the ten drawing items only, so you will need your own artist paper.
The Multi Ink is permanent once dry. Staedtler say the colour-neutral blender 893 can be used to dissolve it, and the 893 blending liquid is sold separately.
Staedtler state that Multi Ink will not bleed through and list all types of artist paper as suitable. Very thin paper is still worth testing first.
The 61 371-1 is the brush lettering mixed set in the same Design Journey series. The 61 371-2 is built around line art and botanical drawing, with a pencil, eraser and sharpener in the box.
