Rich Mid-Soft Tone In A 3B Drawing Pencil

This box holds 12 Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100-3B pencils, a soft grade for shading that is darker than 2B without the heavy smudge of the very soft degrees.

3B earns its place when 2B looks a little grey and 4B feels too buttery. It handles mid-tones in figure and portrait work, hatching that needs real contrast, and quick value sketches where you want dark marks without bearing down.

Staedtler give the degrees from 5B to 3B a thicker lead than the harder pencils, approximately 2.5 mm, which supports the softer graphite. The range is described as having finely graded graphite with smooth transitions, a subtle metallic lustre and good break resistance.

Staedtler state the Lumograph is made in Germany, and pair it with the Mars plastic 526 50 eraser and the 511 001 tub sharpener.

Staedtler match lead thickness to softness. 3B to 5B use roughly 2.5 mm leads, while 2B and the harder grades use about 2.0 mm.
A little more than 2B. That helps when blending with a stump or tissue, but rest your hand on spare paper to keep highlights clean.

Mega Office Supplies accepts change-of-mind returns for unopened and unused products within 14 days from the invoice date, provided the item is returned in its original packaging and in resalable condition.
