The Rexel Optima 70 is a heavy duty metal stapler rated by Rexel for up to 70 sheets of 80gsm paper, using the same low force technology the brand rates at up to 50 percent less effort.

Rexel publishes a 68mm paper insertion depth for the Optima 70, which is slightly shallower than the Optima 40 and is the figure to work to when the staple has to clear a margin. The magazine takes Rexel Optima HD70 staples, which are not the same as the Optima 26/6 staples the Optima 40 uses, and Rexel supplies a pack of 500 with the machine. Reloading is done through a push button mechanism.

Flat clinch stapling matters more at this capacity. Rexel states that the flat clinch reduces the size of paper stacks and saves space in files and binders, which is the practical difference when a filing room stores thousands of stapled sets. Rexel rates it at up to 70 sheets of 80gsm paper. The number in the model name and the sheet capacity happen to match here, but that is not a rule across the range, so always work from the published capacity rather than the model number.
Rexel Optima HD70 staples only, and Rexel supplies a pack of 500 with the machine. The Optima 26/6 staples used by the Optima 40 are a different staple and will not give the rated capacity.
Capacity and staple. The Optima 40 is rated to 40 sheets of 80gsm paper on Optima 26/6 staples with a 70mm paper insertion depth. The Optima 70 is rated to 70 sheets of 80gsm paper on Optima HD70 staples with a 68mm paper insertion depth.
If your team regularly staples sets a standard stapler cannot close, yes. If most of your stapling is a few sheets at a time, a standard desk stapler will do the job and the Optima 70 is more machine than you need.
Rexel states jam free technology for perfect stapling every time when compatible Optima staples are used, so most jams trace back to the wrong staple. Rexel does not publish a jam clearing procedure on its product page, so follow the instructions supplied with the machine.

No. This model is hand operated. Rexel does publish electric staplers in the Optima line, and the same Optima HD70 staples are listed for both the manual and the electric Optima 70 machines.
