Derwent Watercolour Pencil Deep Chrome Box of 6

Yes. The Deep Chrome Derwent Watercolour Pencils work perfectly dry, giving you smooth, blendable colour similar to a quality coloured pencil. Add water with a brush when you want softer edges and painted washes. Switching between the two techniques in a single piece gives you a great deal of creative flexibility.

The key difference is permanence and intensity. Inktense colours become permanent once dry and cannot be re-wetted. Watercolour pencils remain re-workable after drying, allowing you to lift, blend, and layer colour again. The watercolour range also produces softer, more subtle tones, making it the better choice for realistic, painterly work rather than bold graphic illustration.

Yes. This listing is for a box of 6 identical Deep Chrome watercolour pencils - all the same colour. Buying a multi-pencil box ensures you have fresh, sharp points available throughout a long project and is a cost-effective option for any colour you use frequently.

Yes. The barrel is made from Californian incense cedar, a wood traditionally chosen for pencil casings because it sharpens cleanly without splintering. A standard quality pencil sharpener is all you need. The 3.5mm core is soft, so sharpening to a fine point is straightforward.

Absolutely. The Derwent Watercolour range is approachable for beginners because you control how much water you add, making it easy to experiment gradually. They are also used by experienced artists and in art education settings, so they grow with your skills rather than needing to be replaced as you improve.
