Derwent Watercolour Pencil Deep Cadmium Box of 6

Yes. The pencils work fully dry, delivering smooth, layerable colour ideal for detailed sketching and tonal drawing. The soft 3.5mm strip blends easily under finger or blending tool without any moisture at all.

The key difference is permanence. Inktense pigment becomes permanent once dry, making it unsuitable for reworking. Watercolour pencil colour remains re-wettable after drying, so you can lift and move it again - ideal for artists who prefer a more forgiving and adjustable medium.

This listing is for one box of 6 Derwent Watercolour Pencils, all in the Deep Cadmium colour. No other colours or accessories are included. If you need a full palette, Derwent Watercolour pencils are also available individually.

Yes. The soft, smooth strip and re-wettable formula make them very approachable for beginners, while the high pigmentation and light fastness satisfy more experienced artists. They are a popular choice in school and TAFE art programmes across Australia.

Cold-press or hot-press watercolour paper gives the best results when using them wet, as it handles moisture without warping. Standard cartridge paper works well for dry use. Avoid very lightweight copy paper when applying heavy wet washes.
