Three Blues And Three Olive Greens For The Outdoors

Staedtler 371 C6-8, sold as Blues and Greens, pairs hazy blue, delft blue and navy blue with pastel green, olive green and olive dark in one six-pen box.

Each half of the box runs from light to dark, which makes shading straightforward. The blues cover a sky that deepens toward the top, a lake that darkens under the bank, or the folds in a pair of jeans. The greens lean toward olive rather than bright grass, so they suit gum leaves, herbs, moss and botanical drawings where a muted look fits better than a vivid one.

The Multi Ink inside is a pigment India ink. Staedtler say it resists fading, dries quickly, stays waterproof and smudge-free after drying and will not bleed through even thin paper, so both sides of a sketchbook page can be used. While wet, two neighbouring shades can be pulled together into a gradient.

No. They sit on the olive side, from a pale pastel green to a deep olive. For brighter greens and turquoises, look at the Greens and Turquoises box, 371 C6-3.
Staedtler state that Multi Ink does not bleed through paper, even thin types, and name sketchbooks and bullet journals as examples. Papers vary, so test on your own first.
Cool Colours, 371 C12-6, is a twelve-pen box that shares hazy blue, delft blue, navy blue and pastel green with this one but swaps the olives for brighter greens, teal and petrol blue.
Dried Multi Ink is permanent, but Staedtler say their colour-neutral blender 893 can dissolve it for softening and blending.
