Size 4 Flat Hog Hair Brush for Everyday Painting

A size 4 X-Press It hog hair flat is an everyday school brush, wide enough to fill shapes yet small enough for controlled edges.

The product photo shows the natural timber handle printed 579 F with the size number beside a silver coloured ferrule and cream bristle. At size 4, the head suits filling leaves, rooftops and pattern sections in a still life, and the firm hog hair works paint into the tooth of cartridge paper and canvas board without collapsing.

It is a sensible one-brush choice for a student kit when only a few brushes are allowed. The squared bristle tip gives a straight edge when held flat and a thinner line when turned on its side, so a single brush handles both jobs well.

Build a complete student kit with more flat and round brushes, fill the mixing palettes from our acrylic paints, and add cartridge pads, painting paper and canvas boards from art paper and canvas to round it out.

FAQs

One size 4 flat paint brush with a hog hair head and a timber handle.
For a student kit it is a useful middle size, able to fill shapes and still paint edges. Add a fine detail brush and a broad flat for backgrounds.
Hog bristle is traditionally used for oils as well as acrylics. X-Press It does not list specific media for this brush, so clean it to suit whichever paint you use.
Rinse thoroughly, reshape the bristles with your fingers and dry it lying flat or bristles up. Standing it on its head bends the tip.
