A Cool Metallic Shade For Dark Boards

This Uni PWE-8K is a single metallic blue liquid chalk marker with a chisel tip of about 8mm, made for large lettering on chalkboards, glass and other non-porous surfaces.

A flat colour sits quietly on a black board, while a metallic one picks up the light as people walk past. Metallic blue is a cool, calm shade, so it tends to end up on cocktail lists, winter menus, coastal themed bar signs and the welcome board at an evening function. The broad chisel face fills a headline in a couple of passes, and turning the marker onto its edge gives a thinner stroke for underlines and borders.

Uni describe the ink as a water-based paint that stays on in the rain yet washes off with a damp cloth. They recommend it for glass, window surfaces, mirrors and metal, and they are clear that porous surfaces are not suitable, so an unsealed or painted board should be tested in a corner first.

Yes, that is where it looks strongest. Against black the blue picks up a sheen under room lighting. On pale or clear surfaces the shimmer is far less obvious, so test it if your board is light.
Uni say a damp cloth removes it. Sealed boards, glass and mirrors usually come clean that way. Painted or unsealed boards can be porous, which Uni say the marker is not for, so try a hidden corner first.
