Twelve Soft Tones For Planners, Florals And Light Backgrounds

Staedtler 371 C12-2 is the Pastel Colours box: twelve pigment brush pens running from pastel yellow and light peach through rosé, lavender and ice blue to mint, jade, turquoise, lime and two pale greys.

Pale colours are the ones people reach for when a page needs to stay calm: planner headers, washi-style bands, baby cards, macarons and cupcakes, spring flowers and soft sky gradients. The box is not all whisper-light, though. Jade green and turquoise give leaves and water a deeper note, and the warm and cool light greys let you add a shadow without breaking the pastel mood.

Every pen carries Multi Ink, the translucent pigment India ink Staedtler put in all Pigment Arts pens. Staedtler say it dries fast, stays waterproof and permanent, does not show through thin journal paper, and can be painted over without smudging once it has fully dried, so black linework drawn first stays crisp under a pastel fill.

More in brush pens, Staedtler colouring supplies, art markers and the Staedtler range.

Yes. Staedtler say Multi Ink can be overpainted without smudging once it is completely dry, so let the outline set before adding the pastels.
Most are, but jade green and turquoise are noticeably stronger than the rest, which is handy for leaves, water and small accents.
Yes. Staedtler now pack this set in their Artist Series box. The black pigmentArts pen box is the earlier design of the same Pastel Colours set.
Staedtler also make a six-pen pastel set, 371 C6-10, and several of these colours are listed on their own as ten-pen boxes.
