Staedtler 3001 TB18 is a wallet of 18 double-ended watercolour brush pens in assorted colours, each with a flexible brush tip at one end and a fine tip at the other.

Eighteen is a comfortable first palette for someone trying watercolour style illustration without tubes, pans and a jar of brushes on the table. The brush end lays colour in strokes Staedtler put at about 1.0 to 6.0mm, and the fine end draws lines of about 0.5 to 0.8mm for stems, eyes, outlines and small writing, so one pen handles both the wash and the detail.

Staedtler class the ink as water-soluble and describe the pens as being for watercolour effects on most watercolour papers. In practice that means a stroke can be softened, spread or faded out with a damp brush once it is on the page.
