B Grade 0.5 mm Lead For A Darker Everyday Line

This is one tube of Staedtler Mars micro carbon 250 05-B, holding 12 leads that are 0.5 mm wide and B grade.

B is one step softer than HB. In a 0.5 mm pencil it gives writing that reads clearly without pressing hard, which helps students who write quickly, people with a light touch and anyone whose HB notes look faint.

Staedtler say the Mars micro carbon lead glides smoothly with jet black lines, is highly flexible and extremely break resistant, and erases easily. It suits all mechanical pencils of the right width and is listed for paper and drawing card.

Softer leads wear down a little faster and can smudge on the side of the hand. If that bothers you, HB or F are firmer choices in the same width.

B is a little darker and softer. HB is firmer and the usual default. Pick B if your HB writing looks too pale.
