Soft, Dark 2B Lead In The Everyday 0.5 mm Width

One tube of Staedtler Mars micro carbon 250 05-2B: twelve 0.5 mm leads in the soft 2B grade.

2B gives a noticeably darker, softer line than HB with less pressure. Students who press lightly, left-handers who want a bold line quickly, and anyone sketching or shading in a 0.5 mm pencil tend to prefer it. The trade-off is that softer lead wears faster and can smudge more under the hand.

In Staedtler's words the Mars micro carbon lead is stable and break resistant and gives a smooth writing experience, with deep black lines that rub out without fuss on paper or drawing card. Any mechanical pencil takes it if the width matches, and the red band on the tube is the ISO code for 0.5 mm.

Each tube holds 12 leads. The same width comes in harder grades from B up to 3H if you want a lighter line for drawing.
