Brown for Tree Trunks, Pets and Mud

Staedtler 126 12-73 is a twelve pack of brown Noris maxi learner coloured pencils, Staedtler colour 73, the earth colour of the range.

Ask a four year old to draw outside and brown turns up everywhere: the trunk under every tree, the dog, the horse, the garden bed, the fence, the chocolate cake at the party. It is also a colour children use for hair and for people, which is worth planning for. One brown is not every skin tone, and a room that wants a wider range of skin colours will need more than this pencil; the Noris natural box of 24 adds peach, fawn and burnt sienna.

In our photos this brown sits on the warm, reddish side. The barrels read STAEDTLER Noris Club maxi and 126 12, with CE and MADE IN GERMANY printed along them. Staedtler Australia list it in their trade catalogue as a Noris maxi learner colour sold in twelves.

Staedtler publish no lead size or age range for the 126, so none are claimed. The assorted box of ten includes one brown.

FAQs

In some Staedtler ranges 73 is named burnt sienna, but Staedtler's catalogue calls this 126 colour brown, so that is the name we use.
Not on its own. It works for some skin and hair colours; for a broader set, the Noris natural 143N C24 adds peach, fawn and burnt sienna.
Twelve brown pencils. Staedtler Australia sell each 126 colour in twelves, and our listing matches that.
The pencils in our photos are sharpened. Staedtler do not state it for the pack, so keep a sharpener handy.
