A Neck Strap for a USB Drive, Not a Drive Itself

The Rexel detachable lanyard is a strap for carrying small items, and the pack calls it ideal for USB drives, identification cards and keys.

This is worth being clear about, because the title says USB. The blister card we photographed reads Rexel, Lanyard, Detachable, and then Ideal for USB drives, identification cards and keys. It stores nothing and it holds no data. What is in the pack is one black strap with a plastic side release buckle partway along it and a thin cord loop on the end that a USB drive threads onto.

A drive on a neck strap is a drive that does not end up at the bottom of a bag, and the side release buckle means it can be handed to a presenter or plugged into a machine without the strap coming off over the head. The same cord loop takes a key.

For carrying a card rather than a drive, the flat and cord lanyards suit better. Compare them in lanyards and badge reels, look at holders in identification holders, and browse office technology and the Rexel range.

FAQs

Neither. It is a strap. The pack describes it as ideal for USB drives, identification cards and keys, and no storage capacity is printed anywhere on it. You supply the drive.
No breakaway is published for code 9852002. The pack card carries no such wording and ACCO Australia have no product page for this code at all. The buckle in our photographs is a side release that you open by hand, which is not the same as a load released breakaway. Rexel code 9802202 is the one published with a safety breakaway and a 2.5kg break weight.
No length is published and none is printed on the pack, so we are not quoting one. For reference, ACCO publish 52cm for the flat Rexel lanyards and 51cm for the cord lanyard.
Through the thin cord loop at the end of the strap. Most USB drives have a small hole in the casing for exactly this. A drive with no hole will not attach.
One. The blister card holds a single strap, unlike the flat and cord lanyards in the range which come ten to a bag.
We could not find one. Code 9852002 does not appear on the ACCO Australia partner site in any category, and the ACCO datasheet for it returns a not found error while a control code returns a document. Everything on this page comes from the pack card and from our own photographs, and we have said so rather than filling the gaps.
