Pick And Pluck Foam For Long Kit, Ready To Shape

MAX1100S is the MAX1100 supplied with Panaro's standard foam set, a pre-cubed block below and a convoluted pad above.

You press out the small cubes to trace the outline of each item, so a tripod, a set of rods or a long tool lies in its own pocket without any cutting. The interior is 1100 x 370 x 140 mm, with 95 mm of base depth for the cubed block and 45 mm in the lid for the egg-crate layer that presses down on the load when the case is shut.

Underneath it is the same case as the empty MAX1100: a polypropylene body, nylon latch set, O-ring gasket and self-acting purge valve, plus drilled lugs for padlocks and a strap. Volume is 56.98 litres and Panaro give the bare case as 7.80 kg. Their photo of this configuration shows the foam set in place.

For the MAX1100 shell itself, Panaro's downloads include the ATA 300 Cat. 1 air transport report, the IP67 certificate, MIL-STD-810H and the STANAG 4280 environmental report.

Plan the layout first, then pull out the cubes inside each outline a layer at a time. Leave a wall of foam between items and around the edges so nothing touches the shell.
