Derwent Academy Watercolour Pencils, tin of 36

A tin of 36 Derwent Academy Watercolour pencils in assorted colours, Derwent code 2300226, for sketching a design and then adding water.

Derwent Academy is Derwent's range for people starting out in drawing and painting. Derwent says the Academy Watercolour pencils have natural wood barrels and water-soluble pigments, so they can be used dry like coloured pencils or dampened for a watercolour look. The colours blend and dissolve to give extra shades, and Derwent describes the pencils as easy to sharpen.

Derwent suggests sketching out the design of a painting first, then working over it with a wet brush to dissolve the pigment into a fluid watercolour effect. The tin keeps all 36 colours together for a class, an art room cupboard or a student's own kit.

Smaller Academy tins and pads are in Derwent Academy, other sets in Watercolour Pencils, and paper for wet work in Watercolour Pads or across the wider Drawing & Colouring range.
