Derwent Academy Watercolour Pencil Blue Grey Box of 6

Yes. Derwent Academy Watercolour Pencils work completely dry, giving you a soft, smooth coloured pencil effect. The pigmented core is easy to blend and layer on paper without any water at all. Adding water simply transforms the laid-down colour into a flowing wash.

Unlike ink-based pencils, Derwent Watercolour pigment remains water-soluble even after it has dried on the page. This means you can come back to a dry area, apply a wet brush, and move the colour again. It gives you far more flexibility to correct and refine your work.

Inktense pencils produce vivid, permanent colour once dry - they cannot be re-activated with water. Derwent Academy Watercolour pencils deliver softer, more muted tones and remain re-wettable. They suit painters who prefer subtle, layered work rather than bold, saturated colour.

This listing contains 6 Derwent Academy Watercolour Pencils all in Blue Grey (shade 68). No brush or other accessories are included. The quantity makes it practical for classroom use or for artists who use this colour frequently in their work.

Cold-press or rough watercolour paper with a weight of at least 200gsm is recommended for wet techniques, as it holds water without buckling. For dry use only, standard cartridge or drawing paper is suitable. Avoid very smooth or coated papers, which reduce pigment adhesion.
