Charcoal Drawing With A Touch Of Colour, Boxed In Tins

Derwent 2301690 is the Tinted Charcoal tin of 12 assorted pencils, and this listing is a box of 6 tins.

Think of Tinted Charcoal as a halfway point between plain charcoal and colour pencil. In ACCO words it combines rich charcoal qualities with a hint of colour, so a sketch keeps the dark, soft character of charcoal while picking up muted tones for sky, stone, foliage or skin. Each pencil has a round barrel, per ACCO, and the tin keeps a mixed set together between sessions.

The marks can be smudged and blended easily, and ACCO list the pencils as naturally water-soluble, so a damp brush or waterbrush turns hatching into a soft wash. ACCO also say the pencils offer great control with less mess, which matters in a classroom or a shared studio.

A box of six tins gives a teacher or workshop leader one set per table. For single shades and related tools, see charcoal drawing pencils, Derwent artist pencils, pencil sharpeners and the full Derwent range.

FAQs

Six tins, each holding 12 Tinted Charcoal pencils. ACCO catalogue 2301690 as a single tin, so the six tin count is how we sell it, not a separate Derwent carton code.
The supplier page gives the colour only as assorted, with no shade list for 2301690, so the twelve are not named here. Single shades are also sold separately.
Yes. ACCO describe Tinted Charcoal as naturally water-soluble, so a wet brush will soften and spread the marks.
Derwent have used more than one tin design for this set. The contents are the same code, but the lid artwork you receive may differ from one of the pictures.
