Earthy Brown Charcoal For Ground, Bark And Moorland

Derwent 2301682 is Peat, shade TC18, in the Derwent Tinted Charcoal range, supplied as a box of 6 pencils.

Peat is an earth brown charcoal. It gives ground, soil, tree trunks and heath a natural colour while keeping the soft, dark character that makes charcoal expressive. Paired with the moss greens in the same range it covers most of a bush or moorland scene, and it warms up a monochrome study without switching to paint. Peat TC18 is printed on the barrel, and ACCO list the barrel as round.

ACCO describe Tinted Charcoal as rich charcoal with a hint of colour, easy to smudge and blend, and naturally water-soluble for versatile techniques. In practice that means a line can stay crisp, be rubbed into tone, or be washed out with a brush. The pencil casing offers great control with less mess, in ACCO words.

FAQs

Six Peat TC18 pencils in a box. ACCO catalogue 2301682 per pencil, and the six count is how we sell it rather than a separate Derwent pack number.
For landscape work, Dark Moss 2301680 and Green Moss 2301679 are in the same Tinted Charcoal range. ACCO do not publish pairing advice, so this is a suggestion only.
ACCO describe it as naturally water-soluble, so a waterbrush or damp brush will soften the marks.
The ACCO photo of this code shows England printed on the barrel.
