Chalky, powder-based Derwent pastel pencil in Naples Yellow

A water-soluble Derwent pastel pencil in Naples Yellow, colour P070, sold as a box of 6.

In Derwent's colour list, Naples Yellow sits at number P070 under Pastel Pencils. Soft colour from a fine chalk texture is how Derwent sums up the laydown. Pastel is a naturally water-soluble medium, so the pencils can be used with water to create light washes. Portraiture and life studies are the uses Derwent singles out, along with detailed drawings and sketches. Pigment levels are high and dusting is minimal, Derwent notes. The full range has 72 colours.

Reorder with AA2300236 on our side, or 2300236 against the Derwent catalogue. Naples Yellow is supplied by us in a box of 6 matching pencils. Derwent's chart carries it as P070. For erasable, Derwent's table gives 4; for colour intensity, 4. Derwent lists a chalky texture, a powder-based core and a 4mm core size.

More pastel products are in Craft Pastels. Paints, papers and drawing materials that may go on the same order are listed under Art & Craft Supplies, our general art collection.
