Copperplate 4B Pencils Built Around Shading and Sketch Work

Columbia Copperplate 617004B gives you 20 hexagonal 4B lead pencils in one box. ACCO Brands describes the 4B grade as soft, dark lines ideal for shading and sketch work.

The 4B is finished in red with a dark brown capped end, which ACCO Brands describes as the identifying look of this flagship Columbia series. ACCO lists a hexagonal barrel profile. Its photography shows the 4B grade printed next to the columbia and copperplate names, useful when a drawing class hands out several grades from one tub.

In ACCO's description the lead is premium and high quality, and ACCO Brands also states that it sharpens easily without crumbling. Printed on the 617004B box are matching phrases, "leads don't crumble" above "easy to sharpen", placed beside the large 4B that identifies the grade at a glance.

The drawing pencils collection and our wider lead pencils range hold other grades for a full tonal set. Erasers for lifting highlights out of shading are listed on a separate page.

A smaller option exists. ACCO lists Copperplate 4B Pack 2 as 61700C4B, and Mega lists it alongside this 20-pencil box.
No. The pencils finish in a dark brown cap, as ACCO describes and the photos show, with no rubber tip. Mega lists erasers separately.
The 617004B listing used for this page is published on the ACCO Brands Australia partner site. Pelikan and Artline logos are printed at the base of the carton.
