Burnt Sienna for Russet Warmth
Burnt Sienna from Jo Sonja's, here in 250ml, is a warm russet brown, a staple for autumn leaves, hair and terracotta.
Burnt Sienna shows a glowing russet in the painted swatch, a classic earth for autumn foliage, copper toned hair and clay pots. Series 1 and ASTM 1 appear on the Burnt Sienna label, which lists pigment PBr7 under the Artists' Colours title. Burnt Sienna at 250ml goes round further for painting groups.
Plenty of russet on hand means autumn leaves, roof tiles and portrait shadows can all be warmed from the same 250ml bottle across many projects. Portrait painters use the same russet in hair, freckles and the warm side of faces, so the bottle serves more than landscapes.
Russet Burnt Sienna foliage looks richest on primed canvas and art paper, worked with flats and rounds from craft paint brushes. Other earths, golds and greens for an autumn palette sit within acrylic paints.
