Pastel Pencils

These solve the one problem soft pastels have, which is that a stick cannot do detail. The pigment core sharpens to a point and lets you work fine lines and edges, then blend them like any pastel. The trade-off is that the surface is still unfixed and will smudge in a folder, so finished work needs a fixative or a cover sheet. See soft pastels, oil pastels and coloured pencils.
