Oil Pastels

These never harden, which is what makes them blend so readily and also what ruins a display wall a fortnight later. Anything kept needs a fixative or a sheet over the face, and stacking finished work without either transfers the image onto the back of the next piece. They layer over each other well and resist water, which makes them useful under a wash. See soft pastels, crayons and art paper.
