Fluorescent Orange For The Specials Board

The Uni PWE-8K in fluorescent orange is a lone chalk marker whose broad chisel tip measures around 8mm, for loud, readable lettering on chalkboards, windows and other smooth, non-porous surfaces.

Orange is the colour sign writers reach for when one line has to jump off the board: happy hour times, the soup of the day, a sale percentage on the shop glass. In a fluorescent shade it stands out from a distance against a black board, and in autumn it doubles as the Halloween colour for pumpkins and window drawings. Pull the wide face across for block capitals, or tilt to the edge for outlines and arrows.

According to Uni the ink is a water-based paint. It holds up in rain, comes away with a damp cloth, and is meant for glass, windows, mirrors and metal rather than porous materials such as raw timber or unsealed boards.

It is mostly a matter of what else is on the board. If your prices are already in yellow, orange gives the special its own colour without clashing. Both fluorescent shades read well on black.
Uni say the marker stays on in the rain. They do not publish figures beyond that, so expect it to cope with a shower, and redo the board if it has been through a week of bad weather.
Not recommended. Uni say it is not suitable for porous surfaces, and most painted walls fall into that group. Stick to glass, mirrors, metal and sealed boards.
It can. Uni's specification says it is not smudge resistant, so let the board dry fully before it is carried outside or leaned against a wall.
