Twelve Nature Colours For Landscapes, Birds And Field Journals

Staedtler 371 C12-3 Nature Colours is a box of 12 pigment brush pens chosen for the outdoors: greens, blues, earth browns, plum and a warm grey.

The twelve are pastel yellow 105, lavender light 620, ice blue 310, pacific blue 39, indigo blue 36, olive green 57, lime green 530, golden ochre 16, umber 790, brown 76, plum 68 and warm grey medium 84. That spread covers sky and water from pale to deep, leaves from sunlit to shaded, soil, bark and rock, plus a muted plum for berries, dusk and shadow. There is no black, so linework is left to a separate pen or to the darker browns and indigo.

It suits nature journalling, bird and botanical sketches, landscape studies and travel sketchbooks. Staedtler's own box art shows a flamingo, a toucan and a parrot drawn with the range, and the olive green pen on the front comes from this set.

All twelve pens share Multi Ink. Staedtler call it a translucent pigment India ink, extremely lightfast, fast drying, permanent and waterproof, with no bleed-through. Layer colours to mix new ones, or work a watercolour wash around dried pen lines.
