Twelve Two-Tip Pens For Decorating Fabric

Staedtler 3190 TB12 is a wallet of 12 double-ended fabric pens in assorted colours, each with a fine tip at one end and an ultrafine tip at the other.

These are made for textiles. Staedtler say they work on most light and dark fabrics, and that no heat set is required: let the ink dry for 24 hours and it is fixed. For stronger colour, add another coat once the first one is dry.

Care depends on the fabric colour. On light fabrics Staedtler rate the designs as washable up to 60 degrees C. On dark fabrics they are not washable, so keep those for pieces that will not go in the machine, such as wall hangings, bag patches or display banners.

The fine end fills shapes and letters, the ultrafine end adds outlines and small detail, so a single pen covers both jobs. The wallet holds a spread of 12 colours, from white and yellow through reds, violet and blues to green, brown, grey and black, which helps when working on denim or other dark cloth.
