Fine Colour Linework In A Stand-Up Box Of Six

Staedtler 30803-SSB6 is the 0.3 mm colour set of the pigment liner 308: six pens in orange, red, violet, blue, green and brown, held in a clear stand-up box.

At roughly 0.3 mm the line is narrow enough for hatching, small lettering and the inner detail of a pattern, which makes this the set for close work. Colourists use it to trace mandala and doodle outlines in a hue other than black, students annotate maths and science diagrams without heavy strokes, and architects or planners pick out services and zones on a printed plan.

Staedtler describe the pigment ink as indelible and lightfast, and waterproof on paper, and the Australian catalogue also lists it as acid free. Highlighting over a dry line leaves it crisp. The long metal tip sits against a ruler from the 0.2 mm width up and a template from 0.1 mm, so this width handles both. Staedtler also fit pressure equalisation for air travel and state the pens are made in Germany.

The box opens out into a desk stand. If you want a bolder stroke in the same six colours, the 30805-SSB6 is the 0.5 mm version.
