Fine Point Writing With The F Grade

Staedtler tradition 110-F is a box of 12 pencils in grade F, a little harder than HB, for tidy handwriting and detail work where the point needs to last.

F is commonly read as fine point and sits between HB and H on the grading scale. The line is a shade lighter than HB and stays crisp for longer, which helps with small handwriting, maths working, cross-hatching and filling in answer boxes neatly.

Staedtler present the tradition as a high quality pencil for writing, drawing and sketching and put its break resistance down to a special lead formulation and super-bonded lead. They also talk of a smooth gliding lead. The gold STAEDTLER tradition F print sits on a red and black barrel with a black end cap; Staedtler state the pencils are made in Germany.

If F feels too light, step back to HB. If you want a crisper line again, H is next.
