Fine Black Ballpoint With a Ringed Full-Length Grip

Paper Mate Flexgrip Ultra 9580131 is a push-button retractable ballpoint with a fine 0.8mm point and black ink, packed 12 pens to a box as printed on the carton and listed in Newell's 2026/27 catalogue.

Newell groups Flexgrip with its performance ballpoint pens and lists four cartons: 9580131 and 9560131 at 0.8mm, 9530131 and 9510131 at 1.0mm. This is the black fine version. The carton front reads Fine Point and 0.8mm ballpoint, and the pen in our photos has a grey barrel, a pocket clip and a top push button.

Newell's catalogue states that the ringed full-length grip provides comfort in every position and that the steel flange tip is there for extra durability. The 0.8mm fine point carries a smaller ball than the 1.0mm medium cartons, so choose it over those when your forms have narrow boxes or tightly ruled lines.

Compare the full set of retractable ballpoint pens, see the rest of the Paper Mate range, browse capped and click ballpoint pens, or keep correction tapes nearby for tidy edits on drafts and forms.

FAQs

Twelve. The carton front prints 12 pens, and Newell's 2026/27 catalogue lists 9580131 as a carton of 12 with a 0.8mm tip and black ink.
The medium black carton is code 9530131 with a 1.0mm point. This carton, 9580131, has the 0.8mm fine point, so pick it for small handwriting and narrow form fields.
No Flexgrip refill appears in Newell's 2026/27 catalogue, so plan on replacing these pens rather than refilling them.
We make no recycled-content claim for this carton. Newell's catalogue shows an 80% recycled plastics badge beside the Flexgrip range, but the pen barrels pictured there print 42%, and no figure is visible on the black fine pen in our photos.
We could not obtain a Newell safety data sheet for Flexgrip pens, so this page makes no odour, toxicity or safety statement about the ink.
