A single easy-grip magnetic wand with the magnet sealed inside. Ages 8 and over.

The wand is the safest way to put a strong magnet in a child's hand, because they never actually hold the magnet - it is inside the plastic. That is why a class set of wands works where a class set of loose magnets would not.

At $5 each this is how you get one per student rather than one per group. Thirty of them is a class doing magnetism at the same time instead of taking turns at a station, and that changes what the lesson can be.

Buy chips or filings with it. A wand on its own has nothing to pick up - the 100-pack of steel-ringed chips is the usual partner, and the supplier notes iron filing discs work too (sold separately).

Safety: the supplier states this is not a toy, that adult supervision is required when experimenting with magnets, and that it is suitable for ages 8 and over.

Because the magnet is sealed inside the handle, so a child never holds it loose. That is the reason a class set of wands is manageable where a class set of small loose magnets is not.
8 and over per the supplier, who also state it is not a toy and needs adult supervision. The steel chips it picks up are rated 5+, so in an early years room an adult can hold the wand while the children handle the chips.

The supplier says it works well with iron filing discs, which are sold separately. Loose filings are messy and get everywhere - the sealed discs are the classroom-friendly version.

Returns, Refunds & Replacements

Mega Office Supplies accepts change-of-mind returns for unopened and unused products within 14 days from the invoice date, provided the item is returned in its original packaging and in resalable condition. Original shipping costs are not refundable, return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, and a restocking fee may apply depending on the product type and supplier. Some items, including electronics, assembled or installed furniture, food, beverages, medicines, custom-made products, and certain bulk or special-order items, are not eligible for return unless required under Australian Consumer Law.
