Shimmering Shell Swirls From Four Metallic Clays

The abalone design How-to-create set (FIMO 8025 HTC4) shows how to marble four metallic clays into the swirling blue, lilac and pearl look of an abalone shell, then seal it with gloss varnish.

Thin layers of each colour are stacked, twisted and rolled out until the stripes run together like shell. Cut the sheet into earring drops, ring tops, pendants or coasters, and brush on the included 10 ml FIMO gloss varnish after baking for a wet-look shine. Staedtler suggest the technique for jewellery, home decor and accessories.

The box holds 4 half blocks of 25 g, a modelling roller, a modelling stick and step-by-step instructions. Bake the shaped pieces at 110°C for 30 minutes.

FIMO gloss varnish is a finish for hardened pieces, so bake first at 110°C for 30 minutes, let the piece cool, then brush on the varnish.
Staedtler list metallic mother-of-pearl, metallic lilac and metallic steel grey, plus a turquoise metallic that their catalogue calls metallic blue. The colour photo shows white pearl, turquoise, purple and dark grey.
Staedtler give no project count. How many pieces you get depends on the size and thickness of what you cut from the 100 g of clay.
