Pastel Pencils by Derwent: Violet Oxide, number P240

Sold as six matching pencils, Derwent Pastel Violet Oxide is colour P240 in a 72-colour range with a powder-based core.

In Derwent's colour list, Violet Oxide sits at number P240 under Pastel Pencils. The pencils are highly pigmented and give minimal dusting, Derwent says. Detailed drawings, sketches, portraiture and life studies are the uses listed in Derwent's description. In all, the range covers 72 colours. Because pastel is naturally water-soluble, Derwent notes that light washes can be made with water. A fine chalk texture produces what Derwent calls a laydown of soft colour.

Violet Oxide is supplied by us in a box of 6 matching pencils. Reorder with AA2300253 on our side, or 2300253 against the Derwent catalogue. Colour number P240 is the reference on the Derwent chart. Derwent's range features table rates the range 5 for blendable and 5 for layering.

Art & Craft Supplies covers the paper, paint and drawing stock that often goes on the same order, while Craft Pastels narrows the list to pastel products, these pencils included.
