Twelve core Ciao colours in a clear acrylic case

The Copic Ciao 12 colour set covers the basic primary and secondary colours in one compact acrylic case, a tidy first step into alcohol markers.

Copic Australia describe this as a set of basic primaries and secondaries. The case label lists twelve codes that run through violets, pinks, red, orange, yellow, greens, a blue-green, ultramarine, a burnt umber brown and black. When you want skin tones for characters and scenes, Copic Australia suggest adding the six piece Ciao Portrait set alongside it.

Each marker is double ended, with Copic's Super Brush at one end and their Medium Broad at the other. The clear case stands upright on a desk so every cap is visible, which Copic say helps when planning colour schemes. When ink runs low, the markers can be refilled with Copic ink rather than replaced.

A sensible first set for students and hobbyists starting out with Copic. See more art markers, add smooth sheets from art paper and canvas, and keep drawing supplies close at hand for sketching.

FAQs

Twelve Copic Ciao markers in basic primary and secondary colours, held in a clear acrylic case with a lift-off lid. The colour codes are printed on the case label.
Copic Australia suggest the six piece Ciao Portrait set alongside this one, since it brings in the pale to dark earth tones used for skin.
The Copic catalogue marks Ciao as recommended for beginners and lists 180 Ciao colours in total, so this twelve can grow into a much larger collection over time.
They can. Copic Australia's refill guide puts a Ciao marker at roughly nine refills from a bottle of Copic ink, and worn nibs can be pulled out and replaced.
No. The Copic catalogue marks Ciao as not compatible with the Copic airbrush system. Sketch and Classic markers are the lines that fit it.
