Hang a Canvas Without Nails Using Its Stretcher Bar

The Command Large Canvas Hanger 17044 holds a canvas print up to 1.3kg on a smooth indoor wall, with a small sawtooth ridge that grips the stretcher bar and no nail holes when it comes down.

3M Australia lists the 17044 at 1.3kg, and the pack in our photographs prints frames up to 45 x 60cm with 1 hanger and 2 large strips. The hanger sticks to the wall first, then the canvas sits on it, so there is no wire or hook to add. 3M names painted walls, finished wood, glass, tile, metal and other smooth surfaces as suitable.

A canvas has no hanging hardware, which is why it is awkward to put up with nails. Here the stretcher bar rests on the ridge and stays put. When the room changes, the strip pulls away cleanly, and 3M's FAQ says canvas hangers may be reused with a Command refill strip.

For heavier canvases see the jumbo hanger in the Command range, spare strips in mounting tape and strips, blank classroom canvas boards for class art, and framed alternatives in photo frames.

FAQs

3M Australia lists the Large Canvas Hanger 17044 at 1.3kg, and the pack prints canvases up to 45 x 60cm. For a heavier canvas, 3M's picture hanging page lists a jumbo canvas hanger at 2.2kg.
The pack in our photographs is printed with 1 hanger and 2 large strips.
Yes. 3M's Command FAQ says canvas hangers may be reused with a Command refill strip. The pack uses large strips, so Command Large Refill Strips 17023P are the matching refill size.
3M Australia lists painted walls, finished wood, glass, tile, metal and other smooth surfaces. 3M's Command FAQ says not to use it on wallpaper, which can tear, and that it will not stick to brick.
3M's Command FAQ says the one hour wait gives the adhesive time to build strong adhesion to the wall. Clean the wall with isopropyl alcohol first, as 3M notes household cleaners can leave a residue.
No. 3M's picture hanging page says indoor use only, between 10 and 40.5 degrees Celsius, and 3M's FAQ notes the adhesive may soften above 40 degrees.
